[Obviously, these roll over from oldest to newest. We don't have meaningful foodstuffs from 1999. Remember to rotate your stock!] This is disconcerting because we are already using most of our arable land for growing crops, and do not have abundant access to new lands for foods.

This seems like a serious population problem if left unchecked, or if left in the hands of the free market. The free market will cause deaths in this scenario eventually, and eventually is soon.

We can get more use out of our existing arable lands by using greenhouses to extend the growing season. We can build greenhouses in other areas too, like the tops of buildings in cities, which has many other benefits.

We could move our growth of non-consumable crops to less excellent land. We still grow a lot of cotton and tobacco, which are worthless crops for eating. Tobacco especially we could simply stop growing worldwide and extend our food supply dramatically. We can also stop fiscally forcing 3rd worlders to grow export crops like coffee and allow them to grow local food instead.

We waste a massive amount of food in this country. Apparently *half* of our food we throw away. That is shameful and corruptfully wrong. We could easily reduce the amount of waste and extend our crop supply without growing a single bushel more than we already do. We can also extend sea and estuary farming substantially and produce less pollution to improve crop exuberance. We should study immunology and plant immune systems more closely to discover how we can help them. We should also use more ecologically friendly pest control measures, as pesticides do not promote plant growth and overfertilization pollutes the environment and waterways and can strip soil of nutrients.

Food Stocks

"10 October 2006

How Long Can the World Feed Itself?

By Gwynne Dyer

We are still living off the proceeds of the Green Revolution, but
that hit diminishing returns twenty years ago. Now we live in a finely
balanced situation where world food supply just about meets demand, with no
reserve to cover further population growth. But the population will grow
anyway, and the world's existing grain supply for human consumption is
being eroded by three different factors: meat, heat and biofuels.

For the sixth time in the past seven years, the human race will
grow less food than it eats this year. We closed the gap by eating into
food stocks accumulated in better times, but there is no doubt that the
situation is getting serious. The world's food stocks have shrunk by half
since 1999, from a reserve big enough to feed the entire world for 116 days
then to a predicted low of only 57 days by the end of this year."

According to this article, we are facing a food growing crisis. This may be combatted
by switching certain 3rd world export crops from coffee to produce, and by switching
fertile ground from growing textile products to foodstuffs and moving those textiles
to new secondary farmland. Hemp, for example, will grow in less savory environments,
while most food will grow best on good farmland.

We can build large greenhouses to extend the growing season and improve crop quality.
We can also use carbon microtubules to filter seawater and make irrigation within reach
in even dry regions and less energy intensive.

GM and Reproductive Rights

The UN says that you cannot make laws governing plants and animals.

They live.

Also, forcing a plant to not grow seeds so you can hold the reproductive rights to it making God's nature a whore.

What about your own body?

Animal Emotion and Water

Studies have shown the people's moods affect the way water ice crystals organize. They function as a battery of emotion, in a way remarkably similar to the ooze in the Ghostbusters movie. It should be noted that animals contain about 70% water, and that they are continually full of emotions, as are you about eating them. This includes everything from alcohol to cigarettes, spices, pies, alcohol, beer, liquor, and wine, and all candies and components that have instructions to cook.

Do NOT cook plastics in microwaves or expose them to high heats. This will cause plastic to leach into your foods and into you. Plastic is a known carcinogen. Most wax paper is fine. Cardboard is fine provided that it has not been treated with plastics or most chemicals. Paper towels are fine so long as they are microwave safe and contain no treated chemicals.

Companies that instruct consumers to cook foods in at-risk plastic containers are at risk for lawsuits from consumer agencies for knowingly exposing and instructing consumers to expose themselves to dangerous carcinogens. This practice must cease yesterday.

Furthermore, consumers should be made aware of any genetically modified "GM" products in foods. Consumers should seek organic foods and avoid hydrogenated oils and animal oils where possible. Products high in fat salt or sugar should be avoided, and companies should be made to label these products clearly 'a high fat food', or salt, or sugar accordingly

Consumers are advised to avoid preservatives and artificial colors and flavors, as they will have negative health effects and put additional unnecessary load on body organs. It is better to buy a product with a shorter expiration date than many [or any] preservatives. Companies are advised to not add artificial colorings or artificial flavorings to their products. Natural colorings and flavorings should be researched and labeled. Note that no natural food is blue. Certain flower petals are blue and could possibly be used for coloring instead of aluminums and other powdered metals.

Please consider purchasing more foods from cooperative and alternative food sources, as they are often conscious of what goes into the foods, have studied the science and material behind it, and are able to produce substantially tastier and more succulent food that is healthier for you!

Thank you for your consideration!

Fruit and Meat

People become accustomed to their environment. even internally.

I enjoy organic foods. There is a better way to farm.

Greenhousing and ecological pest control can replace the majority of pesticides and have very low upkeep costs and large secondary benefits. Using greenhouses can extend the growing season and control pests. Building large Walmart-sized greenhouses can enable us to grow even tropical foods locally in most places, and allow for more intensive irrigation systems, humidity control, shade control, and water recycling. You could grow lovely crops from March to November in a well controlled greenhouse.

Greenhouses can also provide an excellent 'home base' for an ecological control system. By making a greenhouse a homeland environment for predator pestkillers, farmers can replace undesirable and expensive pesticides with dragonfly farms, apiaries, batboxes, and other natural living forms of pest control. Ecological pesticide is the next generation of pest killers, and they take care, feed, and reproduce by themselves indefinately if you give them the chance.

Using these two methods, America can reduce its reliance on oil products, provide tastier, fresher, more delicious and cheaper foods, and promote ecological wellness and make farms a downright nice place to be, year round.

Feeding livestock natural diets of nutritious hay instead of cheap corn can save difficulty and dilemna of using animal growth hormones, powerful antibiotics and medical treatments, and coming away with less healthy animals producing less healthful milk and meat. The same can be said of chickens. Ecological cycles on a farm are naturally formed and should be utilized for best health and production! Farmers can produce more organic foods cheaply by using these methods.

Food companies, cease hydrogenation. It is better to use natural butter than a hydrogenated oil. Consumers have stated that they prefer non-hydrogenated organic foods. They also prefer foods with less salt and fat content and fewer or no preservatives or artificial flavorings or colorings. Genetically modified foods are also off the table.

Sustainable humanitarian and ethical farming and food producing practices make the best, tastiest, healthiest, and most cost effective meal man can achieve.

Extensive Greenhousing

Greenhousing may be an easy alternative to numerous hassles of farming. Crops grown in a conditioned greenhouse with a complete sustaining ecosystem replace the need for pesticides, extend growing seasons, limit exposure to environmental damage and pollutions, keep out varmints, and can make work conditions more enjoyable for farmers, and makes an easy environment in which to provide premium organic produce.

Greenhouse installation can be as inexpensive as nailing together a series of 2X4's and covering them with CORN STARCH. New technology has found a way to refine corn starch into a plastic. This plastic can be made clear as any other with optional spectrum filtering coatings and used as paneling.

Every farmer should consider converting their fields to greenhouse-grown cropland as a resource conserving and cost saving investment. Hydrogenated oils are 'saturated fats'. The fat -COOH group is 'saturated' with hydrogens, which can turn into free radicals inside your body. Poly and monounsaturated fats have either 'a few' or 'only one' hydrogen base on the group. They are substantially healthier than saturated fats. You could easily do well on a diet containing no saturated fats and a larger portion of poly and monounsaturated fats.

American food producers should avoid saturating or hydrogenizing oils for use in foods. Using vegetable oils is often healthier than using animal oils. I am also pleased to hear that American doctors are requesting half as much salt be put in burgers. Reducing sodium in the diet can improve health ad reduce blood pressure. Salt helps the body hold more water, but having too much salt and water in the bloodstream increases the blood's volume and therefore its pressure. A lifetime of this can reduce your blood vessels' elasticity, and increases organ loads. some fast food chains have been found with other unpleasant ingredients in their foods, which are either not listed, or only shown to consumers if they ask. Cook more of your own food, America.

Examine this page on excellent foods.

Reducing burger fat could potentially be accomplished by feeding livestock grass instead of corn, possibly from farms like Alderspring Ranch. Peak oil will be hitting markets shortly, and to help supply our transportation and energy needs, farmers should begin planting crops based on their energetic properties. Plants producing a greater amount of oil per hectare should be integrated into our agriculture. Corn, for example, produces only ~550kg/ha, while palm oil produces twice as much oil as most other oil crops. www.journeytoforever.org. Jatropha produces quite a lot of oil as well.

Many oily weeds can grow on ground not suitable for foodcrops. We also preserve millions of acres of treeland in the same manner. Millions of acres of weedland could easily provide our nation's transportation energy requirements, and expand agribusiness explosively, around the world. This is a much better answer than relying on non-lifecycle resources. If you're a farmer, or own large tracts of semi-arable land, consider the possibility of growing fuelcrops.

And Then There Was Corn

America produces more food than any other nation. The largest foodcrop we produce is maize, called corn in the States. This is not because it's easiest to grow, healthiest, or best for the soil, it is because of a government subsudy to encourage farmers to grow lots of corn.

Farm subsudies let the state tell farmers how much of what food to grow. The state could accomplish the same thing by adopting a few state farms to guide farmers from inside the market.

Unfortunately, this subsudy, which is repeated in Europe, has the effect of flooding the market with corn and artificially reducing the price of corn and all crops in the 3rd world. Corn is also harsh on soils and depletes it readily. Other crops are more ecofriendly. The results are that 3rd world farmers are sunk deeper into poverty since their labor's value is reduced, depressing their economies and forcing them to rely on imported food for much of their sustenance, lending itself to malnutrition, and in some areas, illegal farming.

Furthermore, livestock genetically designed to eat hay are often fed cheaper corn, producing animals with higher body fat percentages and worse types of fats, lower growth rates, higher rates of disease, and less health nutrients. They require antibiotics and more medical treatment and farmers often use hormones to stimulate their more rapid growth on poorer diets.

We also see much more hydrogenated corn strach in our foods. To improve American health, makers of prepared foods should use less fats, salts, and sugars in their foods and more natural wholesome products.

The simplest solution to this problem is to eliminate farm subsudies.
-William Bunker

Eliminating farm subsudies will improve 3rd world economies and labor conditions by giving the farmers there a higher value product to sell. American farmers can improve the health of their livestock and their nutritient values by feeding them hay instead of corn, avoiding the expense and necessity of numerous unnatural practices. Free farming will give Americans and world citizens a wider selection of food products to choose from. Farm guidance and farming councils can ensure that enough of each type of crop is grown to feed America and the world.

This effort, in combination with the Two Million Wells project can reduce 3rd world hunger, poverty, and disease. American and global health can flourish.
